Skin or scar camouflage involves using ink that matches the client’s natural melanin to disguise a scar or skin imperfection, restoring a more natural appearance. Scar camouflage helps improve the appearance of scars caused by infections, burns, surgeries, or injuries. The technique can also camouflage skin abnormalities such as vitiligo and hypo-pigmentation, making these areas less noticeable.
Starting with a consultation, we will discuss your desired skin goal and what is realistically achievable. There are some scar camouflages that will not need any pigment at all. For other camouflages we will make recommendations on what would correspond well with your skin tone. A topical anesthetic cream is applied before we start creating microscopic punctures with (or without) pigment into the dermis of desired treatment area with a tattoo pen. We use a layering technique and start with a lighter shade initially to ensure the colour fades and isn’t too intense, creating a more natural result. This will generally take more than one session to achieve. Expect each appointment to be around 2 to 2.5 hours long. Aftercare products and instructions are provided upon leaving. Please follow them exactly as instructed.
